EAR CLEANSING INSTRUCTIONS
Use solution prescribed by your veterinarian for ear cleansing. If none has been prescribed, a solution may be used of: 1/3 Vinegar(white distilled), 1/3 water, 1/3 hydrogen peroxide.
Cleansing is an important part of treating and preventing an ear infection. It removes debris and waxy build up that can prevent prescribed medicine from working. Gently hold the ear upward while filling the ear canal with cleansing solution. Gently massage the base of the ear to help loosen debris in the ear canal. Allow your pet to shake their ears to free of all fluid. Use cotton balls or gauze to wipe the outer ear canal dry. Use cotton tip applicators(Q-Tips) with caution as it is possible to damage the eardrum if not careful or if the animal moves to much. Allow ears to dry before applying any medicine. Closely follow instructions for medications. Chronic(recurring) ear infections can indicated underlying skin disease or an internal ear infection that may require more serious treatment. Please consult with your veterinarian if ear infections persist.
